Dayoukeng is located between Qigu Mountain and Dajianhou Mountain. It is the largest fumarole area in Taiwan, covering an area of  3 square kilometers. It has a large amount of gas ejection, violent and active post-volcanism, and the temperature of the gas can even reach 120 degrees Celsius. It was the most important natural sulfur mining area in Taiwan in the early days, and the mining did not officially end until 1996. Today, the mining equipment has been abandoned, but the crater is still steaming. In this project,I tried to recreate the abandoned history with photography and sound collection.
